I called gypsy_raihana to see if she wanted to go the Aquatic Critter today to do a fish exchange.  So she brought her beautiful Blue Gourami to my apartment and we got to talking about the progress of my tank.  It has been decided that she will try to keep my male Platies in her daughter's community tank and I am going to try to keep the Gourami. lol  I've got her 10 gallon already, and will be getting him set up tomorrow.  I think once my fry get bigger he can be integrated into the main tank, but for now they will make perfect snacks for him.  That's just not cool, man.

So...I've got 4 fish heading off to her, at least.  I'll have to see what the official count is once I really start trying to sex them.  Right now there are so many teeming around it's nearly impossible to get a good look. lol  

Oh, and the Critter was closed anyway for 4th of July, so it all worked out for this big trade.  I've got the gourami right now in a holding tank.  He just ate, so at least he's settling down a bit.  He was super stressed out today.  Imagine the trauma of riding over all the speedbumps in my complex and having your water slosh out! lol  We decided to hit a couple other pet stores in Antioch just to see what the 29 and 37 gallon tanks were selling for.  They are more expensive than I'm wanting to spend right now, so we thought to try Wal-Mart.  Folks, I got the deal of the century!  I now have a 29 gallon that will fit on the existing stand my dad made me, fully equipped with all the goodies, and was 50 bucks!  Yessirree Bob, I said 50 smackeroos!  It was marked down on clearance for some reason.  The box looks intact and doesn't appear to have been opened.  SWEEET!  :)  I'll be transferring them over tomorrow.

I also got the rest of my stuff out of storage with Michael tonight, so I just have a bit left in his apartment and then we'll be all separated.  I need to do that soon though....as it doesn't look like we'll be staying together after all.

Now I'm off to watch Dexter, have a glass of wine, and listen to the fireworks.  I LOVE days off!!

I finished making my cake last night for tonights dinner.  Thanks you guys so much for your comments and suggestions about my cake!  
I ended up doing a buttercream transfer (my first one!).  It turned out ok, I guess, for my first one.  And then I put red and blue food coloring into the cake batter before baking it so its extra 4th of julyish lol.
